A third farmers market has opened in the neighborhood and this time it’s operated by local youths. I arrived a little too late and most items had already sold out. The selection is comparable to that of the Borough Hall Green Market at Joyce Kilmer Park on the Grand Concourse and 161st Street the only difference being that the quantities are vastly smaller. Still, this is a big step in connecting a notoriously unhealthy population with poor eating habits with farmers as well as educational opportunities. Please support them! The Youth Market at the HUB is open every Wednesday from 9am to 3pm at Roberto Clemente Plaza at 3rd Avenue / 149th Street and will operate through late November.
