Via Verde Wins 2012 Jack Kemp Award – Urban Land Institute

We already know that Via Verde was a winner in Melrose but it’s always nice to be nationally recognized for excellence. This latest award just keeps on adding to the list of awards and accolades as to why Melrose is the place to live.

According to the Urban Land Institute, the winners are selected based on the following:

criteria:

-Affordability
-Proximity to centers of employment and transportation hubs
-Quality of the design and site planning
-Involvement of public and private partnerships
-Use of regulatory reform to reduce costs
-Energy efficiency
-Sustainable green construction and land development
-Innovative building technologies and systems
-Replicability of the development

Developments such as Via Verde is why Melrose continues to be the ONLY LEED Certified neighborhood in the entire state of New York!
